An Obsession for H.P. Lovecraft, Sci-Fi Fandom, Internet Trolls and Literary Hoaxes

The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 7, 2017

Author and New Yorker contributor Paul La Farge joins us to discuss his new novel The Night Ocean, inspired by the lives of writers H.P. Lovecraft, Isaac Asimov and William S. Burroughs. It tells the story of Dr. Marina Willett and her husband, Charlie, who becomes obsessed with H.P. Lovecraft, in particular, the summer he spent with a teenage fan at his home in central Florida. La Farge explores the mysterious worlds of science-fiction fandom, internet trolls and literary hoaxes.

Paul La Farge will be in conversation with Lev Grossman on Thursday, March 9th at 7:00pm at the New York Public Library Margaret Liebman Berger Forum at 42nd Street & Fifth Ave. For more information, click here.
