opbmusic Presents: Thundercat

WNYC | Dec 15, 2015

Bassist, singer and producer Stephen Bruner, a.k.a. Thundercat, has an impressively wide-ranging resume, from playing in the band Suicidal Tendencies to touring with jazz great Stanley Clarke; he's also collaborated with Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, Kamasi Washington and Kendrick Lamar. His evening set on the Pickathon Woods Stage led a full crowd down several paths into jazz fusion and free improvisation before settling into the funk grooves of "Them Changes."

Every month this year, opbmusic and NPR Music present another episode from the Pickathon Woods Stage Series, handpicked by opbmusic to showcase some of the most exciting performances from this summer's festival, held at Pendarvis Farm just outside Portland, Ore.
