The Military Explosives Buried in Your Backyard

The Leonard Lopate Show | Dec 8, 2017

Senior ProPublica reporter Abrahm Lustgarten discusses his investigation “Open Burns, Ill Winds.” This story looks at how the military spends more than a billion dollars a year to clean up sites its operations have contaminated with toxic waste and explosives at sites that exist in every state in the country. Some are located near schools, residential neighborhoods, rivers and lakes. In addition to the story, ProPublica created an interactive map of the sites across the country.

This segment is guest hosted by Jonathan Capehart.
