Original Rosie the Riveters Finally Honored in Washington

Rosie the Riveter, a cultural icon from the 1940s and her "We Can Do It" slogan, was a symbolic image that represented nearly 19 million real women who entered the workforce during World War II. 

Earlier this week, about 30 of the 'Original Rosies' from the Detroit area were celebrated with an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. — the first Honor Flight specifically for women. 

The event was co-hosted by U.S. Representatives Debbie Dingell and Candice Miller, both from Michigan. Takeaway Washington Correspondent Todd Zwillich spent some time with the Rosies, most now in their 80s and 90s to hear their stories of war and work.
