Ten years ago, the band Parquet Courts played its first gig. It was, as they now recall, a modest beginning: they played to an almost empty venue, but word would soon get out about the Brooklyn-based post-punk quartet that made brainy, brawny music and put on high energy, pogo-provoking shows. One of their songs, called "Total Football," somehow manages to combine soccer, collectivism, and calling out patriarchy, all in a three-minute burst. On Thursday night, Dec. 10, the Brooklyn band celebrates its 10^th anniversary with an online show from Pioneer Works.
