Peter Gordon & Love of Life Orchestra at Backyard at Hudson Yards
with Museum of Love
Wed., June 15. 6PM. Free.

Sax player Peter Gordon was a fixture on the so-called “Downtown” music scene here in New York in the late 70s and through the 80s. He was part of the circle that included musicians like Laurie Anderson, choreographers like Bill T. Jones, and video artists like Kit Fitzgerald. His band, the Love of Life Orchestra, included some of the city’s best players – it was a kind of contemporary classical dance band. But since Gordon moved away, a bit more than 30 years ago, performances by the group have been rare. So it’s good to see them back in action on Wed., June 15, opening for Museum of Love. The concert is part of the Backyard at Hudson Yards Summer Concerts at the Wells Fargo Stage, Wednesdays through August 3.
