Philip Glass Ensemble | Music In Twelve Parts at Town Hall
May 25. 6PM-11PM. $68+up

Fifty years ago, Philip Glass unveiled his piece called Music In Twelve Parts – and apart from his operas, it is still the biggest and most ambitious work he’s written. Music In Twelve Parts is classic Minimalism – a study in all the various ways that repetition can be used, and varied. A full performance of all twelve parts takes about three and a half hours, so they have been quite rare. The 50th anniversary performance on May 25 will include two intermissions, an hourlong dinner break, and lots of pulsing, pulsating music. The Philip Glass Ensemble plays the complete Music In Twelve Parts, beginning at 6pm, at Town Hall.
