Poll Finds Christie Struggles, Trump Surges in New Hampshire

WNYC News | Jan 11, 2016

A new voter survey shows New Hampshire's Republican primary voters remain under-whelmed with Chris Christie, while Donald Trump continues to increase his lead. The poll found about a third of likely primary voters say they support Trump.

The new Monmouth University poll finds most New Hampshire republicans are basing their primary decision on national security and terrorism.  That should play well for Chris Christie.

He's been focusing on his experience prosecuting terrorists as a US attorney in New Jersey before becoming governor.

But the poll finds voter opinion of Christie has gone down a bit in the Granite state.

The poll also found that a small number of Republican primary voters also report going to hear Democrats Hillary Clinton (5%) and Bernie Sanders (3%) in the flesh.

The Monmouth poll was conducted by phone from January 7 to 10, 2016, with 414 New Hampshire voters.
