PUBLIQuartet at Green-Wood Cemetery Catacombs
PUBLIQuartet at Green-Wood Cemetery Catacombs (In Person)
Aug. 4, 6, 7. $80. (Includes whiskey-tasting)
6PM twilight performance and 7:30PM moonlight performance, each nightÂ
The PUBLIQuartet looks like a regular string quartet – two violins, viola, cello – but that might be all that’s regular about them. PUBLIQuartet is spelled differently, and they make it a point to play music from composers who are under-represented. Their project called Freedom and Faith doesn’t feature a single dead white guy, instead celebrating several centuries of women composers, many of them women of color. PUBLIQuartet performs in the Catacombs under Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights; there's both a twilight performance at 6PM and a moonlight performance at 7:30PM. (Start times includes whiskey-tasting and allows for time to walk through the cemetery to get to the catacombs.)Â
