Rachel Lee Priday Plays Cerrone's "Sonata for Violin and Piano" (Weekly Music Roundup)

The violinist Rachel Lee Priday has just released an unusual album called Fluid Dynamics -  a collection of pieces written for Priday, most of them for her project with the oceanographer Georgy Manucharyan. The idea is that the motion of water in the ocean, so essential to so much of the planet’s biomass, could be reflected in the currents and waves of sound in the six pieces on the album. Christopher Cerrone’s contribution is a Sonata for Violin and Piano, and in this part, marked “dramatic, violent, rhythmic, very precise,” it’s easy to imagine a storm surge…
Rachel Lee Priday's new record, Fluid Dynamics is part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
