The singer and guitarist Raul Midón has often been compared to Stevie Wonder – both blind, both musically gifted, and both actually playing together early in Midón’s career. But Midón has carved his own space in the music world over the course of 10 albums, ranging from intimate guitar ballads to big swinging orchestral numbers with Holland’s Metropole Orkest. For many of his fans, though, Midón is at his best when he’s by himself. Raul Midón plays solo at the Jazz Standard Thursday and Friday nights, Dec. 27-28, and with his band on Saturday and Sunday nights, Dec. 29-30.
