Red Baraat via SF Jazz Fridays at Five (Archived Stream)
Tickets: Free to members*. Sep. 11 at 8PM EDT

The Brooklyn band Red Baraat has its roots in Punjabi wedding music, but New Yorkers have come to rely on them for smart, irresistible party music, heavy on the horns and funky rhythms. They’re led by Sunny Jain who plays the traditional drum known as a dhol, an instrument that has never heard the term “indoor voice.” But the band does play indoors, and in 2016 they played in the Bay Area at the SFJazz Center. On Friday, Sep. 11, they’re streaming that whole concert, which is free to members, but becoming a member is cheap and easy.
