New York City Center Puts On 'The Red Shoes'

The Leonard Lopate Show | Oct 27, 2017

Director/choreographer Matthew Bourne joins us to discuss his production of “The Red Shoes,” along with New York City Ballet principal dancer Sara Mearns and New Adventures principal dancer Ashley Shaw, who originated the starring role and is sharing the performances with Sara at City Center. The ballet is inspired by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s classic 1948 film of the same name.

New York City Center (131 W 55th St., between 6th and 7th Avenues) is presenting "The Red Shoes" through Nov. 5.

Note: Melissa Eagan guest-hosted this segment of "The Leonard Lopate Show."
