Breaking The Stereotypes About Ulysses S. Grant

The Leonard Lopate Show | Oct 9, 2017

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ron Chernow, author of Alexander Hamilton, joins us to discuss his latest book, Grant. Chernow revisits the life and works of Ulysses S. Grant. The controversial figure is often characterized as a vicious Union general during the Civil War and an inept leader throughout his following presidency, but Chernow offers a more nuanced and complicated portrait of Grant that shows the many lows and extraordinary highs of his life.

Ron Chernow will be speaking and signing copies of his book at the Upper East Side Barnes & Noble (150 East 86th St., between Lexington and 3rd Aves.) on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
