Robert Levin via 92nd St. Y (Live Stream)
Aug. 17. 2PM. $10.

Sunday night the Mostly Mozart Festival wrapped up – this year’s version was a radio event on our classical station WQXR, and it featured plenty of musicians dutifully playing all those notes the Mozart wrote on paper. But when Mozart himself played, he enjoyed improvising – playing solos on piano or violin, and even, according to one legend, the glockenspiel. Now pianist Robert Levin has revived that tradition. In fact, he doesn’t just improvise on Mozart’s piano pieces – he also takes audience requests for tunes and riffs on them as well. This Monday, Aug. 17, Robert Levin plays and riffs on Mozart in a live stream from the 92nd Street Y.
