Bass player Ron Carter began his career some 60 years and some 2,200 records ago. He was awarded Guinness World Record as the most-recorded jazz bassist ever, and that was in 2015 so who knows how many records he’s up to now. This is a guy who played in Miles Davis’s Quintet, recorded with Aretha Franklin, A Tribe Called Quest, and hundreds more. He’s played Bach cellos suites – on the bass – and written string quartets. The current edition of the Ron Carter Trio plays two shows on Monday, April 17, at the Blue Note.
