Salt Cathedral is a duo based here in New York, but both musicians are from Colombia, and whether they’re singing in English or Spanish, their music has strong ties to that country’s vibrant dance music traditions. Combining the sounds of the Caribbean and South America dance music with electronics is a big part of what Salt Cathedral does, but there’s more – like collaborations with the late Jamaican producer Lee “Scratch” Perry and the Brooklyn Jewish rapper and reggae singer Matisyahu, among others. Salt Cathedral plays Tuesday, July 26 at Elsewhere.
