Shakey Graves is the stage name of Alejandro Rose-Garcia, a singer and guitarist from Austin, TX, a city whose mayor actually declared February 9 to be Shakey Graves Day back in 2012. Rose-Garcia began writing gothic-sounding folk blues songs; but these days, Shakey Graves has become a full band, whose sound echoes the indie rock of the 90s, though there is still enough twang in the guitars to connect back to his rootsy early work. His new album, Movie Of The Week comes out in September and he plays Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Pier 17, sharing a bill with the luscious pop harmonies of the band Lucius.
