Guitarist Stephen Ulrich has led the band Big Lazy for more than 20 years, playing a noir-ish brand of music that sounds like it was written for an imaginary Western. But you may know Ulrich’s music from Ira Glass’s long-running public radio show This American Life. Ulrich’s new album is called Music From This American Life, and it’s full of twangy guitar instrumentals that originally framed the stories on the radio and now have been fleshed out to stand on their own. Stephen Ulrich plays some of his radio-derived music tomorrow night at the Sultan Room in Brooklyn on Feb. 4.
