Inside the Takata Airbag Crisis, the Largest Recall in U.S. History

Beginning in 2013, several auto-makers began to recall Takata-made airbags. In the cover story for this week’s Bloomberg Business Review, "Sixty Million Car Bombs: Inside Takata's Air Bag Crisis," reporter Susan Berfield investigates the recall that became the largest and most complex in US history, covering more than 60 million airbags in vehicles from BMW, Honda, Toyota and 14 others. The recall could affect more than 100 million vehicles around the world, and company documents suggest that Takata executives discounted concerns from their employees and hid the potential danger from Honda, their biggest customer, as well as from US regulators.
