From Niger, a landlocked country in West Africa, comes the band Tal National. They spent the first decade of this century establishing themselves as a band in Niger’s capital city of Niamey, but have been reaching out to a wider, international audience in this decade. They play in the so-called desert blues style, which marries traditional rhythms and musical ideas to electric guitars. The band Tal National from Niger play Wed., July 31, at the Sultan Room at Turk’s Inn in Brooklyn.
