Trumpeter Terence Blanchard is a 6-time Grammy winner and a jazz legend. He’s also an Oscar-nominated film composer, best known for his work with Spike Lee, and his opera Fire Shut Up in My Bones will open the new season at the Met. Blanchard and his E-collective are about to release a new album, done in collaboration with the veteran genre-busting outfit Turtle Island String Quartet, called Absence. Blanchard, his E-collective and the Turtle Island Quartet are all playing a free concert Friday night, Aug. 6, at Bryant Park.
