America’s highest honor for jazz musicians is to be named an NEA Jazz Master. Thursday night, April 22, is the annual celebratory concert to honor this year’s Jazz Masters. But this year’s event will be online. And it’ll have a different music director. Normally it’s drummer, composer, and educator Terri Lyne Carrington; but perhaps it was thought to be unseemly for her to lead the band as this year's concert celebrates… Terri Lyne Carrington along with other honorees Albert "Tootie" Heath, Henry Threadgill, and Phil Schaap. Dee Dee Bridgewater, a 2017 NEA Jazz Master herself, and actor Delroy Lindo host the 2021 NEA Jazz Masters concert online.
