Back in the 1970s, Todd Rundgren turned his back on pop success after several top-40 hits and began producing big, ambitious, almost orchestral albums like this one, called Utopia. He says he was fascinated at the time with prog rock and fusion. Rundgren fans have been waiting for several decades for him to reassemble the band that produced that music - Utopia (Todd Rundgren on guitar, Willie Wilcox on drums, and Kasim Sulton on bass), and this year, with prog rock’s reputation being somewhat rehabilitated, Rundgren got the band back together.

American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer Todd Rundgren performs with the prog-rock outfit, Utopia, tonight at Town Hall.
