TRIAD at Dizzy's Club
April 23. 7PM and 9PM. $20-$45
The group called TRIAD is a fairly recent development in the career of the jazz trumpeter Dominck Farinacci. It’s a trio, but not one that features the usual instruments – there’s no “rhythm section”; instead Christian Tambour plays the marimba and Michael Ward-Bergeman plays the accordion. Now, as you might imagine, there isn’t a lot of music written for the combo of trumpet, marimba and accordion, so TRIAD set about creating their own repertoire, reflecting the trio’s backgrounds in jazz, theater, and contemporary classical music. The trio explores deep South American, New Orleans, and European influences, reimagining works by Astor Piazzolla, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Kurt Weill, and more alongside original compositions. TRIAD plays two sets on April 23 at Dizzy’s.
