Trump Stumbles in Push to Reach Black Voters

Hillary Clinton's remarks linking Donald Trump to the alt-right come at a time when he's been attempting to broaden his support among black voters. While some of those appeals have offended minorities and whites on both sides of the aisle; observers have said that Trump's appeal to African-American voters and his apparent pivot on issues like immigration are actually designed to win over white Republican voters who have been uncomfortable throwing their support behind the racist overtones in his campaign.

For black voters who may have been on the fence, Clinton's attack of Trump's alt-right ties may drive an even bigger wedge between Donald Trump and African-Americans according to Leah Wright Rigueur, an assistant professor of public policy at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government; a historian, and author of "Between the Lines: The Loneliness of the Black Republican."
