Tyondai Braxton is a composer with a freewheeling approach to jazz, electronic music, chamber music, and a Zappa-esque brand of rock. The son of experimental jazz legend Anthony Braxton, Tyondai first came to attention as a member of the prog rock band Battles, and has since produced a series of quixotic pieces that subvert the usual song forms and expectations. Tyondai Braxton plays Wed., Feb. 9, along with the equally experimental sax player and electronic musician Lea Bertucci, at Public Records in Brooklyn.
