Valerie June Shares Her Joy and Celebrates Growth, In-Studio

Soundcheck | Apr 7, 2025

Singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and author Valerie June draws on a wide spectrum of American music – soul, gospel, blues, folk, old time rock n roll, and psychedelia. The western Tennessee musician’s latest album is called Owls, Omens and Oracles, and it is a good example of Valerie June meeting the moment with “a radical statement to break skepticism, surveillance, and doom scrolling” – and an invitation “to let yourself celebrate your aliveness”, (Concord Records). Valerie June and her band offer a chance to “collectively activate our superpowers of joy”, in-studio.

Set list: 1. Joy, Joy! 2. Endless Tree 3. All I Really Wanna Do
