On Monday, almost a week after the polls closed on Election Day, Kyrsten Sinema was the declared the winner of the race for Jeff Flake’s vacated Senate seat in Arizona. Sinema will be the first Democrat Arizona has sent to the Senate in decades, and she won the seat with a moderate platform that avoided hot-button progressive issues like universal health care and the abolition of ICE.
