This Week in Politics: Bridgegate “Hero” Gaining Little Traction in NJ Gov Race
The primary for the New Jersey governor's race is just one month away. Yet the latest poll shows 57 percent of voters do not know enough about the candidates to form an opinion.
This is a race where it's tough for the front runners to get noticed. But try running as an underdog.
Democratic Assemblyman John Wisneiwski made a name for himself as co-chair of the legislative committee that investigated Bridgegate. He was seen by some as a contender. But as a gubernatorial candidate he has barely registered with voters – he's currently polling at 5 percent.
Tom Moran, editorial page editor of the Newark Star-Ledger, joins us to talk about Wisniewski's candidacy. Speaking with host David Furst, Moran says Wisniewski has "been an effective legislator and kind of the hero of Bridgegate." He says, "It was his insistence on issuing a subpoena that turned up the infamous 'time for some traffic problems in Ft. Lee' email."
