This Week in Politics: NJ Lame Duckery in Full Force

WNYC News | Dec 16, 2017

The administration of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is in the home stretch. That means it's time to slip some last-minute appointments and legislation through Trenton.

The list includes a utility rate increase for PSEG to subsidize nuclear power plants and hundreds of millions of dollars for controversial new government buildings in Trenton that won't even have to be approved by the legislature.

Matt Friedman with Politico New Jersey joins us on This Week in Politics for a fireside chat about lame duck legislation. Speaking with host David Furst, he says, "The governor has famously said he like to get all the juice out of the orange. And that's what they're doing right now in terms of government and power. And that's just the way government works here in New Jersey -- love it or hate it."
