Weekend Staff Picks: Spas, Pajamas & Shorts

WNYC News | Feb 22, 2014

Here are some of the events our colleagues in the membership department are checking out in this pledge drive edition of Weekend Staff Picks.

LISA TORRES, senior director of membership: Pledge drives are crazy times for the membership department and Lisa has just the thing for relaxation -- a visit to King Spa and Fitness in Palisades Park, NJ. It's an authentic Korean style spa for both men and women and includes a dry section and wet spa where you can soak in various hot tubs, saunas and pools.

ANA KARINA QUIROZ, membership assistant: Dinner and a movie is taken quite literally at Nighthawk Cinema in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This theater serves food and drinks. Ana plans to see Oscar Animation Shorts, which is playing this weekend and features all of the Academy Award nominated animated shorts. "It's a perfect way to prepare for the Oscars next week," said Ana.

AMY WIELUNSKI, fundraising manager & pledge producer: Also in for a flick, but something more nostalgic, Amy is heading to the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens for the series, See it Big! Musicals. She is planning on seeing The Pajama Game. "It's my favorite and I knew all the music growing up. I remember the lead doing a duet with himself and me falling in love with him without even seeing his face," Amy reminisced.
