What Cuomo’s Resignation Could Mean for Mass Transit and Infrastructure

Start with Congestion Pricing, a plan the governor approved in 2019. Since the spring when federal officials moved it forward, the plan has languished at the feet of the governor.

Many are hoping with Cuomo out of the picture, the plan to charge drivers, and reduce congestion in the city will finally come to fruition.

Then there’s day-to-day management of the MTA.

Former transit President Andy Byford says he quit because the governor made his job intolerable.

There’s hope from many advocates that now, MTA leadership will be free to do what’s best for riders, not just what’s best for ribbon cuttings and legacy building.
