An epicenter of black culture, the list of artists whose careers were elevated by the Apollo is truly remarkable.  Over 80 years since its doors first opened, the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York launched the careers of stars like Ella Fitzgerald, The Jackson 5 and James Brown.  'Mr Apollo' Billy Mitchell along with The Jacksons, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves, among others, tell the story of the historical musical institution.
