Willem DaFoe joins us to discuss starring as Vincent van Gogh in Julian Schnable’s new film, “At Eternity’s Gate,” a journey inside the world and mind of van Gogh.

 

Director Talal Derki joins us to discuss his new documentary, “Of Fathers and Sons.” Derki returns to Syria where he gains the trust of a radical Islamist family, sharing their daily life for over two years. His camera provides rare insight into what it means to grow up in an Islamic Caliphate.

 

Dance critic for WNYC and The New Yorker, Marina Harss, joins us to discuss the city's many variations of "The Nutcracker" being staged this holiday season.
