Witkin won this year’s Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award for her work in unraveling how cells detect and respond to DNA damage. Joanne Liu, International President of Medecins sans Frontieres will accept the Public Service award for Doctors Without Borders, earned especially for their response to the recent Ebola outbreak in Africa.
