The Life And Times Of Woody Guthrie, On Stage.

The Leonard Lopate Show | Aug 10, 2017

David Lutken, creator of the new musical, “Woody Sez: The Life and Music of Woody Guthrie” joins us to discuss the show along with co-creator Helen J. Russell, who also performs in the show. It tells the story of the fascinating, beautiful, and sometimes tragic life of Woody Guthrie. With songs like “This Land is Your Land” and “So Long It’s Been Good To Know Yuh,” a group of four actor/musicians bring his story to life, and illustrate his influence and legacy which defined an era of American social consciousness and political expression that is alive and palpable today.

"Woody Sez" is playing at the Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage. Click here for tickets and information.

Jonathan Capehart guest hosted this segment of "The Leonard Lopate Show."
