Would Capping Uber Hurt New Yorkers?
L. Joy Williams, President of the Brooklyn National Association for the Advanced of Colored People (NAACP), and creator and host of "Sunday Civics" podcast, talks about a new bill proposed by NYC Council to put a temporary cap on for-hire vehicles in New York City and the impact that the limit has for New Yorkers. And Brad Lander, Brooklyn City Council member (D-39 -- Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Columbia Waterfront, Gowanus, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Borough Park, Kensington), argues in favor of the City Council's proposal, and talks about legislation he proposed to establish a standard base pay for contract drivers of $17.22 an hour.
We need to make sure drivers have a living wage and are not competing with one another, but we also cannot enact legislation that hinders users from access to transportation, says @ljoywilliams.

.@bradlander explains proposal would require Uber and Lyft drivers paid a living wage, pause adding new vehicles while they can figure out policy at end of the year. Cites that at the moment Uber and Lyft drivers only have someone in their car 60% of time
