Wu Man and The Knights at The Met Museum
Sept. 9. 7PM. $35+up

Wu Man is a virtuoso player of the Chinese lute known as pipa. She plays the ancient Chinese works written for the instrument, but she’s better known for helping create new music for the instrument by working with classical, jazz, and global folk musicians. The late American composer Lou Harrison wrote a concerto for pipa and string orchestra for Wu Man, and on Sept. 9, she’ll play that piece with the exciting Brooklyn-based chamber orchestra called The Knights at the Met Museum’s Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium. The performance is presented in conjunction with The Met’s Department of Musical Instruments.
