For Years, New York City Failed To Inspect Schools For Lead Paint

For years, New York City’s Department of Education failed to consistently conduct annual lead paint inspections of city schools as required by law. That’s according to an analysis of Department of Education data obtained by WNYC senior editor Christopher Werth. He joined All Things Considered host Jami Floyd to discuss the reports, which found that just 12 percent of New York City public schools were inspected annually for lead contamination.
