Yola at Music Hall of Williamsburg

Gig Alerts | Jan 7, 2020

Yola at Music Hall of Williamsburg, with Amythyst Kiah, Jan. 8
Tickets: $20. 18+. Show at 8PM.

Nashville’s country music industry might not be the place you’d expect to find a black British soul singer, but Yola has made a big splash in her time in the Music City. The former lead singer of the British country and soul band Phantom Limb, Yola has embarked on a solo career that really took off in 2019. She released her debut LP, Walk Through Fire, garnered three Grammy nominations including best new artist, and was the hit of the Newport Folk Festival. Her songs range from twangy roots music to widescreen pop and R&B. Her song, "Faraway Look," has echoes of the Phil Spector “wall of sound” approach. Yola plays Wed., Jan. 8, at Music Hall of Williamsburg.
