Your Picks for New York City's Best Dog Runs

There are more than 80 public dog runs in the five boroughs. They're the perfect places to bring four-legged friends to stretch their legs, chase tennis balls, and socialize, off-leash. But not all them are in the best shape. And even the ones that are well-maintained,are held together through the efforts of unpaid volunteers. We'll hear your picks for the city's best dog runs and hear about some of the challenges that come with maintaining them.

Our resident dog park expert —WNYC arts and culture critic, Ben Yakas — joins us to talk about the state of the city's dog runs. Speaking with Weekend Edition host David Furst, he says "Making a dog run a reality is a big commitment. But actually managing a dog run is really the hard work."
