Zoe Keating at the Bang on a Can Marathon
Bang on a Can Online Marathon 2020
Sunday May 3, 3PM-9PM EDT. Pay what you wish.
For over 30 years, the contemporary music organization known as Bang On A Can has gleefully ignored classical music protocol and presented music in unusual settings and with clear connections to the worlds of pop, world music, rock, jazz, and more. Bang On A Can’s annual Marathon concerts have become a signature event, but this year’s marathon will be unlike any they’ve done before. For six nonstop hours, the music will be streamed live from the homes of 26 artists, with four world premieres, and an unusually large number of solo performances. Cellist Zoe Keating is just one of the many artists playing live online at the Bang On A Can Marathon, starting Sunday afternoon, May 3, at 3PM EDT.
Watch it here:
The program also includes performances by Meredith Monk, Steve Reich’s Vermont Counterpoint performed by flutist Claire Chase, performances by Vijay Iyer, Maya Beiser, Shara Nova, Nathalie Joachim, and Bang on a Can All-Star pianist Vicky Chow playing John Adams’ China Gates.
