Listen to music from songwriter and composer Devonté Hynes whose musical resume includes the stabby dance-punk band Test Icicles, orchestral acoustic pop outfit Lightspeed Champion, and the Blood Orange recording moniker, where he makes an Afrocentric hybrid of R&B, jazz, classical, and club music. As the composer Devonté Hynes / Dev Hynes, there is a fantastic collaboration of instrumental music released with Third Coast Percussion, called Fields. which started as a dance score, and several film scores. We’ll hear music from his film score to The Invite, where he draws on his background as a classical cellist and pianist.

Hear new film music from Son Lux - the trio of Rafiq Bhatia, Ian Chang, and Ryan Lott who created the music for the Academy Award-winning film Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. Their follow-up is Bassam Tariq’s Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother about a contract killer in Texas. Then, from the foodie-thriller The Menu, listen to music from saxophonist and composer Colin Stetson. There’s also music from a documentary called Daughters by cellist, songwriter, and composer Kelsey Lu.

Listen to some of  Mica Levi’s unsettling score for Jonathan Glazer’s 2014 film, Under The Skin. Levi—the English musician behind experimental pop group Micachu and the Shapes allows the avant-garde to be accessible by using hand-made instruments (occasionally vacuums), and glass harmonica. Also, sample from an electronic score by Baltimore-based Dan Deacon from the documentary Time and Water, a requiem for an Icelandic glacier. That, and more. - Caryn Havlik
