Roger Berkowitz, founder and academic director of the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities and professor of Politics, Philosophy, and Human Rights at Bard College and the author of A World We Share: Hannah Arendt and the Power of Friendship in a Broken World (Yale University Press, 2026) draws on the work of Hannah Arendt to argue that the ability to be friends and disagree is the key to healing divisions.
