Lara Downes "Declaration: Songs of Democracy, Voices of Hope"
Lincoln Center Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall
July 1, 7:30PM Choose What You Pay

Pianist Lara Downes doesn’t do albums. She does projects – collections of works held together by an idea. And the idea behind her upcoming record Hold These Truths is a simple one – America at 250. It’s also the subject of her multimedia, crowdsourced work called The Declaration Project. The recording includes Downes playing American music from the 1750s to today, and focuses on the themes of hope and community.  Lara Downes performs with the American Composers Orchestra and a host of others, at David Geffen Hall on July 1. Lara's live set, previewing some of these works is the latest edition of the Soundcheck Podcast.
