U.S.-Iran deal: What do we know and what remains unresolved?

1A | 14 hours ago

The United States and Iran have reached an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and extend the ceasefire in the Iran war. The deal will be signed formally on Friday in Switzerland, according to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The text of the memorandum has not been released. But what we do know is that the deal will extend the ceasefire for 60 days, end fighting on all fronts including Lebanon, and open the Strait of Hormuz. Traffic in the waterway has been halted since the war began in February.

The deal was finalized despite an Israeli strike in Lebanon on Sunday, which was condemned by Iran and the U-S. Israel’s Defense Minister said the Israeli military would continue its presence in Lebanon.

We’ll get the latest.
