Iran and U.S. trade more tit-for-tat attacks

The 12-day old ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. faced another test this weekend as both sides exchanged tit for tat attacks, with both sides accusing the other of violations. The latest exchange of strikes began when Iran attacked a cargo ship on Thursday near Oman, just outside the Strait of Hormuz. Those attacks set off strikes by the U.S. in response and counterstrikes by Iran at U.S. military and naval bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.

And in in Lebanon, fighting between Hezbollah and Israel continued over the weekend despite a recent agreement between the countries. Iran has demanded a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon as part of a final deal with the U.S.

On Monday, the president posted on social media that Iran had requested a meeting, and said it will take place in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday.

Both sides have agreed to halt attacks for now, but with massive gaps in agreement over the Strait of Hormuz and frozen assets, how do things move forward?
