How Chefs Are Fighting Food Waste

The Leonard Lopate Show | Oct 12, 2017

Directors Anna Chai and Nari Kye join us to discuss their new documentary “Wasted! The Story of Food Waste." They're joined by Dan Barber, chef and co-owner of Blue Hill in Manhattan and Blue Hill at Stone Barn, who’s featured in the film. Every year, we waste 1.3 billions tons of the food. The film explores how the world’s most influential chefs are battling food waste by taking what most people believe to be garbage, scraps and rejects and turning them into incredible dishes.

"Wasted! The Story of Food Waste" is now playing at the Alamo Drafthouse (445 Albee Square W #4, Brooklyn). Directors Anna Chai and Nari Kye, and Danny Bowien, co-founder of Mission Chinese Food" in San Francisco and New York and "Mission Cantina" in New York, will appear for a Q&A on Oct. 13 following the 7:30 p.m. screening.

It will also be available on demand, Amazon and iTunes.

Note: Ilya Marritz guest-hosted this segment of "The Leonard Lopate Show."
